I am an Abstract Expressionistic Artist residing in Peterborough, Ontario.
Throughout my early years into adulthood, I enjoyed creating art in the form of pencil and charcoal sketches to pastel paintings to traditional knit works. This started me on my art journey. In my late 30’s I pursued a career in Interior Design and opened my own business in 1997. It was through my Interior Design work where my passion for colour and texture first came to light. Both colour and texture led me further on my art journey and into a career as an artist where these elements are the common thread in all my paintings.
The Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi is the main theme or message in my work where ‘there is perfection in imperfection’.
‘Perfection lies in the paths we may not have chosen and following them to see where it leads us. The process may not be comfortable at times but well worth the journey.’
My paintings are highly textured using acrylic mediums, acrylic paint, mixed media and collage. It is the depth created from this texture and the layers of colour which produce hidden images and interest in all my paintings. I find joy in others viewing my paintings and finding hidden clues about themselves and the world that surrounds them.
