Canadian Artists’ Representation/Le Front des artistes canadiens is incorporated federally as a non-profit corporation that is the national voice of Canada’s professional visual artists. As a non-profit association and a National Art Service Organization, their mandate is to promote the visual arts in Canada, to promote a socio-economic climate that is conducive to the production of visual arts in Canada, and to conduct research and engage in public education for these purposes.

We believe that artists, like professionals in other fields, should be paid for their work and share equitably in profits from their work. The Kawartha Art Gallery is proud to provide CARFAC fees to its presenting members.

The CCA is Canada’s public arts funder, with a mandate to “foster and promote the study and enjoyment of, and the production of works in, the arts.” In 2021-22, over 4,600 Canadian artists, over 800 groups and over 2,330 arts organizations received Canada Council grants.

In the last 20 years, CKL communities have matured into Ontario’s second largest single-tier municipality and home to some of the most vibrant downtowns, abundant green spaces and diverse opportunities. Kawartha Lakes has a vibrant arts, culture and heritage sector. They attract people and investment to our communities. There are an impressive number of heritage buildings, historic sites, museums, theatres and art galleries.

Kawartha Lakes is home to many talented artists, musicians and performers. In February 2020, Council adopted the 2020-2030 Cultural Master Plan, after extensive consultation and engagement with community stakeholders throughout the municipality. This plan provides a long-term vision and a strategic action plan to guide the growth of the local cultural economy.

The purpose of the Indigenous Protocols for the Visual Arts resource guide is to provide practical guidelines for respectful engagement with Indigenous Peoples. It is part of an ongoing initiative to strengthen respect for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis visual art and artists, and legal and moral rights in the lands commonly known as Canada.

The OAC was established in 1963 to foster the creation and production of art for the benefit of all Ontarians with a special priority for artists living in regions outside Toronto. OAC is an agency that operates at arm's length from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport. The OAC's grants and services to professional, Ontario-based artists and arts organizations support arts education, Indigenous arts, community arts, crafts, dance, Francophone arts, literature, media arts, multidisciplinary arts, music, theatre, touring, and visual arts. The OAC is directed by 12 volunteer board (council) members who come from communities throughout the province. They are appointed by the Government of Ontario for a three-year term.
