5th Annual Made in Kawartha Lakes

We are excited to announce the 5th Annual Made in Kawartha Lakes Show and Sale hosted by the Kawartha Lakes Arts Council and Kawartha Art Gallery. This is an exhibition and sale of artwork and fine crafts at Bobcaygeon Settlers’ Village on May 27th & 28th from 10 am to 4 pm. While exploring the village, you will have the opportunity to shop from and meet with the artists and makers’ from the Kawartha Lakes and surrounding areas. As our musical guest, North Country Express will be playing live music throughout the weekend. Plus, if you get hungry choose from one of our many food vendors for a snack and a drink. Bring the kids too! There will be workshops for kids and teens to participate in, itinerary can be found below.

Kawartha Settlers’ Village is located at 85 Dunn St, which is just off of Highway 36. Visitor parking is directly opposite of the main gate and there will be overflow parking just beyond the main gate if public parking is full. Admission to the event is by donation. While some vendors can accept debit and credit cards, cash is preferred for shopping. This full weekend event happens rain or shine!

Kids & Teens Workshops

Kids Making Music in Kawarthas | Ages 4-9 | Saturday May 27th 10am-12pm

In this workshop, children will explore percussion and rhythm. Percussion instruments have been provided by Maryboro Lodge.  Participants will recreate a simple song using a colour system during this two-hour workshop and perform for parents at the end.

The Stage is Yours | Ages 10-17 | Sunday May 28th 10am-12pm

During this two-hour workshop, teens will learn how to use a stage, how to perform with and without a microphone, how sound equipment works, and ways to manage stage fright. There will be a demonstration of setting up a performance and then the participants will have a chance to try it themselves. Thanks to Fenelon Live for the equipment and demonstrations. There will be an open mic segment where each participant will have the opportunity to perform for an audience.  They can dance, sing, play an instrument, read a poem or story or help with sound for a performance.
