Leah James is an acrylic artist based in Kawartha Lakes. Her painting practice began with Tess, an adventurous and loving eight-year-old German Shepherd who inspired Leah to capture the heart behind her eyes. Now an avid pet portrait artist, Leah carries forward the same intention from that first painting: to honour the warmth, personality, and quiet, joyful bond we share with our animal companions.

I’m Sydney Martin, a visual artist based in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario. My artwork is focused on painting, collage, photography and jewelry making. My inspiration comes from noticing unexpected beauty in the world around me, centring my work in the themes of nature, flowers, architecture, light/shadows and reflections. For the past few years I’ve been working on a project that combines miniature acrylic paintings and jewelry pendents into wearable art pieces. These small paintings have magnetic backings making them interchangeable within the pendent, so you can easily switch out the art piece for more options.
Joanne Phendler grew up in the Kawartha Lakes, where forests, lakes, and winding trails sparked a lifelong sense of wonder. Holidays on her family’s farm in the Eastern Townships deepened her connection to nature and loved ones, surrounded by mountains, laughter, and quiet moments in the trees. These landscapes shaped her identity and artistic voice. Through her paintings, Joanne shares the comfort, magic, and sense of belonging she feels when returning to the places she calls home—inviting others to reflect on how nature connects us not only to the land, but to ourselves and each other.
