New Marketplace Products!

We are so thrilled with the enthusiasm we've received from KLAC members and general public alike with our revitalized online Marketplace changes!

There are lots of new items to peruse for your holiday shopping (and more going up daily) - support your local creators and take a look today!

With all these changes to our online marketplace, many are wondering how offering their products on the online marketplace can help them as an artist. Read our most recent blog post to help you understand what the Kawartha Lakes Arts Council Marketplace is all about.

The first Kawartha Lakes Writers Festival was a success!

The workshops put on by some of our Kawartha writers were well received and had many guests in attendance. The author readings also had a good turnout, with many engaged listeners. There was a market and Friends of the Library book sale on the same day which led to a large amount of foot traffic and gave our writers a chance to share their work with many new people.

We are so happy to have had the opportunity to introduce more of your arts council's talented writers to the community. Looking forward to next year!

That’s a Wrap Art Program

Earlier this year the City of Kawartha Lakes collaborated with Kawartha Arts Network to bring you the "That's a Wrap" art program. Artists were called upon to submit their original works. Twelve winners were to be selected for the 2023 Municipal Calendar. Of these 12, nine were chosen to wrap traffic control boxes to liven up our community's downtown streets.

Several of your arts council members were selected! Rhonda Laursen, Joy McCallister, and Karen Richardson's artwork will all appear on traffic control boxes. These three artists’ works, as well as artwork from Kelly Whyte, Lorrie Wagner, and Joan Forsythe can be seen in the municipal calendar. To see all the chosen pieces click here. Pictured above and below are all of our member's artwork that was selected.

Watch for the next Community Postcard in your inbox at the end of the month!
