Elizabeth Popham

I have circled back to the visual arts after a career teaching Renaissance and Canadian literature – most recently, at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. I work primarily in acrylics – sometimes combined with pen and ink – and photography, and tend to produce “series” as I explore the potential of new subjects, techniques or media. Whether working on botanical studies, portraiture, life drawing or landscapes – and whether striving for high realist detail or abstraction – I am drawn to the elegance of shape and line. My favourite subjects could be called “micro-landscapes” or “natural abstracts.”
