CALL FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS-2023 for KAWARTHA LAKES ARTS COUNCIL

Kawartha Lakes Arts Council is looking for new volunteers to join the board.  Applications are open now until March 21, 2023 in advance of the Annual General Meeting on April 4, 2023.   If you are looking for a rewarding experience engaging with a team that supports our creative arts and cultural community, joining the Board of your local Arts Council may be for you!

The volunteer Board oversees the Operations and activities of the Not-for-Profit organization in keeping with its mission to Advocate, Educate, and Network in support of the creative economy of Kawartha Lakes. We are seeking individuals who wish to make a difference in the lives of practicing and emerging artists of all kinds and mediums of expression. Our board recognizes the interconnection between arts, culture, and heritage as important community builders. Board Terms are generally three years.  

Volunteer Board Members may have experience in a number of areas:

  • Fundraising, Sponsorship

  • Communications & Marketing

  • Workshop, event, Program development

  • Community outreach & collaboration

  • Leadership & Governance

  • Grant writing

  • Art, Culture & Heritage

And, have a Passion to join a team focused on enabling opportunities for creators and makers throughout Kawartha Lakes while letting the public know about this valued sector and advocating for our elected Council what these values are.

Candidates must:

  • Be Members in good standing of the NFP organization- Kawartha Lakes Arts Council

  • Able to attend Monthly Meetings, year-round, usually held in the morning.  May be In-Face, Virtual or a Hybrid.  (Usually two hours long)

  • Attend key programs or shows of the organization as a volunteer greeter, etc

  • Serve on one additional sub-committee of the organization

  • Share personal and professional contacts and act as an ambassador for the Arts Council

  • A commitment to Best Practices of governance, kindness, and respect in all KLAC matters

  • Commit to approximately 5-8 hours per month depending on time of year and activity of organization
