In Their Own Words - Creators Must Play!
Carl Jung says it well... “The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect - but by the play instinct arising from inner necessity.” A human being is wired to play. This is a well-documented component of childhood development. Play builds physical, emotional, cognitive and intuitive attributes and is as elemental as shelter, sustenance and clothing. The benefits of play continue into adult and senior life. The values realized through active play serve the unique human ability to create and innovate.
Penni Holdham, Artist, Designer, Muralist
Starting out in fashion, selling children’s apparel and driving a taxi, in 1976 Penni Holdham enrolled at Ontario College of Art, where she explored jewellery making, photography, sculpture and painting. Following graduation and a short stint as a ski bum, she worked for a Singles Dating Club in 1980. Social planning for singles led her to special events design and production. Here, she found a challenging career path offering a new creative opportunity every day.
